Dear Mr. President:
I know that you want to be a champion for what is right for us in this country. Please allow me to explain to you in no uncertain terms why the RH bill your office has now dubbed as "Responsible Parenthood" Bill does not deserve your endorsement as it is far from being right.
By wanting to stand by what is right and doing what is right, I believe that this is equivalent to helping each member of this nation live in a manner true to his dignity as a human person. Unfortunately, Mr. President, passing a reproductive health bill with government purchase of artificial contraceptives with tax payer's money and its mass distribution is far from respecting the dignity of each individual person.
In communication, we honor and respect truthfulness between persons. Lying on the other hand is an offense to the proper way of communicating with each other and is therefore not right. In the same manner, persons with their full dignity are also able to communicate with each other mutually and exclusively in the sexual act with the language of their bodies. Such act denotes total self giving of a man to the woman and the woman to the man when they do so within the context of a marriage. They give their whole selves in a self-donation to each other which may give rise to another person who is also endowed with full human dignity. By using artificial contraceptives, man and woman are essentially lying to each other about "total self-giving" as they are holding back from each other the possibility of creating a human life. Are you going to allow Filipino men and women to lie to each other in something that is so basic and essential in the human act of having sexual relations? It is similar to legislating lying and publicly funding the act of telling lies to one another, albeit not using the human tongue in creating words but by the use of the entire human body through the sexual act.
Please reconsider supporting this bill which I believe will erode the moral fiber of our society which you, as its head has the responsibility to protect. We should only say the truth with our human bodies, not propagate lies when it comes to the act of total self giving.
